Gundabad Uruk Archer

Gundabad Uruk Archers are Gundabad Uruks that wield Gundabad Uruk Bows instead of melee weapons. Like their close cousins, they are far stronger than ordinary Gundabad Orcs, with greater health and Gundabad Uruk armour, which protects as well as Dwarven armour.

Spawning

Gundabad Uruk Archers spawn by night in the Misty Mountains, Ettenmoors, Coldfells, and Grey Mountains, as well as in Gundabad invasions or biomes that have been conquered by Gundabad. Typically, they spawn in groups, though these groups aren't as large as bands of common Orcs.

Behaviour

Gundabad Uruk Archers will attack any foes of Gundabad, be they players with negative Gundabad alignment or enemy NPCs. When an enemy approaches, archers will close until they're within 16 blocks of their foe and then start shooting. If the enemy then closes to melee range, the archer will charge them with a knife to kill them.

Equipment

Uruk Archers use the same set of armour that normal Uruks do, giving the wearer 17 points of armour. They always carry Gundabad longbows and occasionally shield with the eye of Sauron on them.

Hiring

Gundabad Uruk Archers can be hired from Gundabad Orc Chieftains for 50 silver coins. Your alignment must be at least 400+ with the Gundabad Orcs to hire them.

Strategy

It is mandatory when fighting archers, especially Uruks, to use a shield. They are easy to craft and will save your life in battle with long range foes.
Try and get close enough for them to switch their weapon to a knife, which toggles on at shorter range. If you are at the right distance, they can't damage you with it and they won't switch back to their bow. Stay in the right range that you can damage them without them damaging you.

Lore

Gundabad Orcs recieved their name for the sacking of a dwarven mountain fortress named Mount Gundabad during the Second Age.
